Customer reviews & ratings
I love this Black Decker portable heat pump!!
Haven't had real hot days so not sure how it will behave and have not tried the heater yet. BUt it cools down fairly nice. It just loud. (I think any of this kind will be loud for me) Easy set up. (Just pain to install/uninstall) window panel every time. (I don't leave it permanent), but other than that, I haven't had any issue so far (with limited amount of usage). However, I wish this came with "Current Temp" display.
So far so good
I have only had it for a week but so far so good the temperature outside is barely hitting the three digit 100°.
This is an outstanding air conditioner
We bought this Black and Decker air conditioner/heater for our Florida room, which is about 200 sq ft, 2 1/2 years ago. It has been amazing. Rarely has an appliance impressed me so much. We literally have used it nearly every day since we bought it and it keeps the room cool in the summer and warm (or cool) during our Florida "winter." This room has a metal roof and is all windows, so you can imagine how hot it can get and what this air conditioner is capable of. It has never let us down and keeps the room at a comfortable temperature. It regulates the temperature perfectly, adjusting air speed as needed. Its filters are easy to remove and clean. It has a feature that removes humidity that is quite handy during our humid summers. I highly recommend this product and am so glad we bought it.
It works great and cools a large room quick.
Works well and dependable so far
This was a replacement for one we bought at Lowes. a Lightning power surge took that one out. This one works as well and was less expensive. We have learned to trust Black and Decker over the years.
It works well at keeping my entire first floor cool, but is very loud! Its my first AC so i dont have another to compare it to but I cant hear when someone knocks or rings the doorbell if the AC is on so thats a bit frustrating. Id rather be nice and cool than hear the door though lol
Draining water pan, a huge ploblem. Poor Design!
Its works great. It was easy to install, but it has a big problem with the water emptying which must be done every few days using heat. The water plug is too close to the floor. When you take the plug out water pores out on my carpet before I could get the drainage hose connected to the. Because the plug is too close to the floor any drainage pan must run up hill. I had to cut the drainage hose to about six inches and tilt the unit and drainage pan to get it to drain all that didn't pour out on my carpet with having to pull the plug before I could connect the drainage hose connected. It did turn off when the tank became full as it said, however, there was water under the unit, so I am not sure it didn't leak on my carpet besides what pored out trying to connect the hose. I have left the short hose connected, trying continuous draining. But the hose still runs uphill some because of the height of the drainage pan. If the continuous draining slightly up hill doesn't work, then I will have to try something else as it completely shuts down as stated when the tank is full. What a wonderful machine to have such a poor engineering flaw!
Not as powerful as advertised
Does not cool as much as advertised. Did heavy research while deciding on a unit. I recommend you find a different one. This unit does not cool the small living room I put it in. It is big and bulky, and just gets in the way. I have the unit set to its lowest setting, which is 64 degrees, I also have the fan up all the way, and it is almost 80 degrees in the living room. About 90 degrees outside.
Does anyone in cust serv actually read these...?
K...it works "okay". if you don't need the remote. I bought it during a heat wave in Fresno. Used it sporadically until the HEAT came. We're not quite Phoenix, but we're very close. Didn't need the remote until recently. My remote wasted 3 sets (6 batteries) over the span of about 36 hours. Try reaching the company 5o get any assi They say this unit will cool a 22x25 room.
